Asus VivoBook series is one of the most pocket-friendly convertible series in the market. The Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 is a rather newer release from the Asus with a 15.6-inch wide FHD display. Let’s see how it fares in comparison with its competitors then.

Benefits:
- Price – Asus VivoBook isn’t one of those that need you to mortgage one of your kidneys in order to buy it. I’ve even seen laptops with almost the same configuration and hardware to sell for even more than 700 or 800 dollars. I mean, it’s almost a near to impossible task to compete with the VivoBooks in the ’tout the lowest of the lowest price tag’ challenge. So, if you want the highest bang for your bucks, you should go with it.
- Performance – Okay then, let’s see what it has got under its hood before going into the performance issues. It features an 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor with 6 MB of lightning-fast cache, an 8 GB of DDR4 RAM which is expandable up to an astonishing 32 GB (really, woooow!!) and a one TB of hard disk drive to make sure you get enough space for all your files. Oh another thing, it also includes an SSD compartment (but doesn’t comes with an SSD, as told later). And as for the performance, it rocks in that as well. You can stay assured that it can easily handle almost any normal task like heavy internet surfing or playing your favourite movies in 1080p (or both, simultaneously).
- Battery – Is it good? Yes. But is it great? I don’t think so. Under normal workload (surfing the internet at medium brightness) it gives a battery backup of almost 5 hours. Whilst, not anything fabulous, it sure gives you a moderate amount of runtime.
Downsides:
- Screen – The display is pretty average, to be honest. VivoBook F510UA-AH51 features a 15.6 inch Full HD screen. Pretty obviously it supports 10 point multi-touchscreen. The screen seems a bit dim. The highest brightness was found around 250 nits. So this laptop would only make your life even harder while working outdoors. And also, some backlight bleeding can be seen from edges especially the top bezel.
- No SSD – Okay, a slight bit of correction. It does come with the space for an SSD as well as an HDD. But it doesn’t include a solid state drive. Mostly to save some bucks by not including a pricier SSD. So it’s completely up to you if you make do with the default hard disk drive or opt for an additional and faster SSD.
Verdict:
Okay, I won’t lie; the VivoBook series is really surprising me time after time. It does have some significant drawbacks as told earlier like the bad screen, absence of the backlit keyboard etc. But if you also consider the price at which all the rest of the things come, it would start to make sense. So my advice would be to jump for it while you can.
