Sceptre C658CV-U Review

Sceptre is a brand known for their affordable and easy to use televisions. The majority of their televisions excel at producing high-quality images and allowing the user to watch what they want to watch in a high-resolution. That’s their function. This isn’t a “Smart TV”, and Sceptre really isn’t in the business of making Smart TV’s. So, if you’re looking for a television that is easy to use, beautiful to look at, and, simple overall, this might be the right one for you. Let’s look at the benefits of this model, and the downsides.

Specs:

Screen Size: 65-Inches

Display Technology: LED

Connectivity Technology: Yes

HDMI Ports: 4

Resolution: 4K

Benefits:

  • Most 4K television sets are rather expensive, especially the larger ones. This one is only seven-hundred and fifty-dollars, which is a very good price, especially for this type of image quality and resolution.
  • You can easily connect your smartphone or tablet to the device, allowing you to do what you want to do on those devices, while being able to see it projected on the big screen in stunning 4K.
  • Huge variety of ports. There are four HDMI ports, which is very nice, and there are also DVI and USB ports, which allow you to connect a huge variety of different devices to the television. Allowing you to look at family photos and to listen to your favorite music.

Downsides:

  • This is a budget model for the 4K resolution. As such, the picture quality won’t be quite as good as, for example, Sony’s latest 4K model. Nonetheless, the resolution and image quality are far superior to a standard HDTV, and the images are fantastic.
  • No Smart TV functionality. Most 4K televisions are “Smart TVs”, which means that you can access Netflix and other streaming platforms, along with being able to surf the web and to use Google, on your television set with your remote. This is not one of them, and as such, the functionality is quite a bit more limited.

Verdict:

If you’re on a budget, and you want a decent 4K television, but you don’t mind it looking somewhat inferior to a more expensive model, then this is the television for you. It’s easy to use, and the picture looks great. Not to mention the fact that it really is quite inexpensive.
