- Performance – The GTX 1060 graphics card is a real beast. With the help of the powerful 7th Gen i7 processor and 16 GB RAM, it can easily run almost any game or video editing software. It can comfortably run games like Witcher 3, Battlefield and Rise of the Tomb Raider in ultra settings at 1080p display mode at more than a staggering 60 fps. The cooling system does a great job in keeping them from overheating. It turns out that the new 1060 GPU produces less heat than its predecessor 970M.
- Feel – The keyboard is as good as it could ever become with the fully customisable RGB backlighting. The trackpad is pretty sensitive; so no need to create a fuss about it. The left and right trackpad buttons though feel a bit cheap.
- Looks – To be honest, it’s really hard to tell that it’s a high-end gaming laptop from just the outer appearance. It spares all the gaudy designs that a gaming laptop usually includes. Its look resembles a low-profile appearance; rather than screaming out ‘power’ everywhere. While a slight bit disappointing for the neon lovers, it certainly would entice the minimalists; because the new more is less.
Downsides:
- Price – Did you, by any chance, ever think that a Razer Blade could be a bit less expensive (maybe burning a little smaller hole in your pocket)?? Then dream on, kiddo. It really is pretty steep in comparison with its competitors like MSI GS63, Alienware 15 and Aorus X7 V6. It’s at least $150 to $300 costlier than the rest. And also, unlike some of the others, it comes with nothing more than the laptop charger. Sorry for being the monster of your dreams if you had thought otherwise.
- Fan noise – Although not extremely noisy, but the fans in the Razer Blade do make their existence feel. While almost inaudible in idle mode, the fans start to roar in the load mode (can be as high as 55 dBA). The quiet mode does come handy in this kind of situation.
- Fingerprint magnet – The matte finished Aluminium unibody casing is prone to attract a lot of fingerprints. So, you better keep a hold of the napkin as you’d need it a lot.
Verdict:
There’s no one denying the fact that it’s pretty costly even in its class. So, if you are not gonna step back from spending a buck or two more (although, it certainly is gonna cost a lot more than a couple of bucks…;)) for buying a premium quality product, then it’s made only for you.
