Benefits:
- Performance – This mini laptop features an Intel Celeron processor, 4 GB of DDR3 low power RAM and a relatively spacious 64 GB flash memory. While it manages to tackle almost all the productivity and media consumption tasks quite efficiently, it can get sluggish at times due to the sheer load of a full-fledged Windows OS. But other than the occasional lag this Chromebook (sorry, Windows-book…:)) is pretty reliable.
- Storage – Other than the relatively large 64 GB of eMMC storage (which is a pretty good feat in itself) it also features a multi-format SD card reader slot. So if you by any chance find the internal storage not capable enough to hold all your movies and files you can easily opt for an external memory card. Oh another important thing, it also includes 100 GB of cloud storage to the Onedrive from Windows for 2 years. So, in essence, you’re gonna be protected even on the go.
Downsides:
- Display – The display is not something to brag about. On an average, the TN display is pretty dim in comparison to many other Chromebook. With a screen brightness of 185 nits, it falls a bit behind the category average of 200 nits. While the screen covers 75% of the sRGB colour spectrum (pretty average as well) the screen tends to feature a bluish tint implying a poorly colour accurate display. In an essence, the display is of below the average quality and it’s merely workable.
- No touch screen – Now, it’s a bit of a bummer that it doesn’t include a touchscreen if you ask me. When you’re up against the Chromebooks it’s a very important aspect as the touch interface is one of the key features of its portable design. The touchscreen would have been a great feature to get a hold of as Windows, in my honest opinion, tends to be more touch-friendly than Chrome OS in general.
Verdict:
Now, if you are going to run a full-blown Windows 10 into a miniscule Intel Celeron processor machine then it’s no surprise that it’s gonna stutter and lag a bit. But other than the dimly lit screen this mini laptop shows an overall good performance. So this Windows driven Chromebook can be a good choice for you if you want your job to get done.
