Even though all-in-one desktops are the big “thing” lately there is still plenty of love for a standard desktop model such as the HP Pavilion 690-0010. This Pavilion model advertises itself as a gaming desktop and a great option for those who need to be both productive but have a little fun with their technology as well. Below we are going to see what some of the key benefits and downsides are on this model and help you decide if it is the right choice.

Specs
Processor: AMD Ryzen 3
Memory: 8 GB of RAM
Storage: 1 TB SATA
Screen: N/A
Operating System: Windows 10
Benefits
For gamers the addition of the AMD Radeon RX 550 is going to top the list of what they like about this model. It comes with 4 GB of dedicated memory which is enough to handle most modern games quite easily. This combined with the newer AMD Ryzen processor adds up to a nice gaming combination.
Storage space is well covered due to the large 1 TB SATA hard drive so storing all your important files should be easy.
If you are big on plugging in external devices the huge selection of USB 3.1 ports is a nice touch. With many only having 2-4 HP has went an extra step and included 6 ports altogether.
Downsides
Probably our biggest gripe about this model is the lack of an SSD drive. Especially for a desktop that is advertised as a gaming choice we would have expected to see them want to take advantage of the performance boost that can be had with the addition of this technology.
The other item that may be the downfall for those looking for high end performance is the average amount of memory at just 8 GB. Luckily with a little bit of computer knowledge you can upgrade this to 32 GB but of course that will require an extra purchase.
Verdict
The HP Pavilion 690-0010 is not the most powerful gaming desktop available but it does provide a great entry level option for those who don’t need the best of the best. The price is quite attractive and HP has done a good job of including all the essentials.
