Dell’s Inspiron series is principally divided into 3 sections according to its price and capabilities: the starter 3000 series, the 5000 series and the 7000 series. Today we are gonna check out one of the laptops from this wallet-friendly 3000 series, Inspiron I3567-3657BLK-PUS. While it looks decently good the specs suggest that it’s potentially more powerful than one’s standard netbooks. Let’s take a closer look at it then.

Specs:
- CPU – Intel Core i3 Dual-Core (7th Gen), 2.4 GHz
- GPU – Intel HD Graphics 620
- Memory – 6 GB [(1 x 4) + (1 x 2) GB] DDR4, extendable upto 16 GB
- Screen – 15.6-inch HD IPS (1366 x 768) with 10-point touch screen
- Storage – 1 TB SATA HDD
- OS – Windows 10 Home edition
Benefits:
- Performance – Its hardware specs suggest a significantly more powerful machine than a typical netbook. An Intel i3 processor, 6 gigs of RAM which can be upgraded up to 16 GB and 1 TB of HDD- both plenty of processing power and storage. The hard disk drive, though is a 5400 rpm variance; so sloooow transfer rate is expected. And for the performance on various synthetic and real-life tests, it was found that it’s almost twice as fast as the older Celeron powered netbooks such as Acer Aspire One Cloudbook and Samsung Chromebook 3 and almost one and a half time more efficient than the AMD A6 APU or Intel Pentium housing laptops like ASUS VivoBook E403SA or HP Notebook 15. So you won’t be having trouble running your lightweight software safely that usually bring the Chromebooks at their knees. And for the graphical aspect, I would say it’s able to run only as much game as it can be expected from a meagre Intel HD Graphics 620 GPU. Even then less demanding titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dirt ran smoothly in low preset.
- Battery – Well, at the first look the 4-cell battery didn’t really impress me that much. But after looking at it running I would say it’s not bad at all. It could make the laptop stay awake for almost 7 and a half hour while doing light internet surfing in power saving mode (low brightness with Wi-Fi on). While that’s not anything exceptional it certainly is pretty close to the category average of 8 hours. Although in a bit more difficult situation like heavy web browsing via the Wi-Fi in medium or high brightness the battery life came down to 5 hours and 40 minutes. That’s just a satisfactory performance.
Downsides:
- Display – It’s no wonder that the display in every second Chromebook or Windows-book ends up getting in the ‘cons list’ that comes into the room. And Inspiron i3567 is no different. It includes a 15.6 inch glossy HD display. The visuals look pretty dull and bland due to its dim screen. It clearly falls behind the category average of 250 nits of the ultralight laptops with the average brightness lying at only 170 nits. The colour coverage isn’t anything splendid either at 70% while the preferred value should be around 85% (even overlooking the excellent showing by the Aspire E 15 at 150% many laptops showed that the 80% region is not really impossible). Also, a major drawback in the panel is that it’s highly glossy due to incorporating touchscreen. As a result, the dim display and the glossy surface only help in making your life way harder working outdoors in a well-lit environment. In short, the display is not really up to the mark in this 400 bucks machine.
- Input – The keyboard is not really one of the most attractive features in this laptop. The keys seem a bit small and feel somewhat shallow due to its low key travel distance (1 mm, 1.5 mm is usually ideal). It could easily have ended up as a positive if it included a backlighting. But that’s a really hard task if you ask me as not many at this price point offer that. But on the positive side, it includes a discrete number pad unlike some of the other 15-inch Inspirons (Dell Inspiron i7570-5787SLV-PUS).
Verdict:
It’s no wonder that with its powerful Core i3 it’s much stronger than a paltry Chromebook. So it can be a great choice for the everyday user or a dorm based student who would use it for web browsing and casual gaming. It’s weighing a bit on the heavier side though at 5.07 lb (2.3 kg) than many of the lightweight netbooks. So if you want some computing power for your everyday usage and don’t need to carry it around every time you go out it can be worthy of your attention.
