The Swift series by Acer is mostly aimed towards the budget-oriented general consumers who wouldn’t mind getting a corner or two cut on their laptop. And that’s exactly the case for Acer Swift 3 SF314-52-30QS as it competes with the likes of HP EliteBook 840 G4 and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon. To know more, read on.

Specs:
CPU – Intel Core i3 Dual-Core (7th Gen), 2.7 GHz
GPU – Intel HD Graphics 620
Memory – 8 GB DDR4
Screen – 14-inch Full HD IPS (1,920 x 1,080)
Storage – 128 GB SSD
OS – Windows 10 Home edition
Benefits:
Performance- As a mid-range general purpose notebook the hardware configuration is pretty moderate. It’s powered by a moderately powerful Intel Core i3 processor. It’s paired with 8 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of SATA SSD. While it’s much faster than your standard HDD it’s merely so-so from an SSD point of view. But overall it would be able to get your everyday jobs done pretty comfortably.
Ports- It certainly houses all the most essentials that you might expect from a 14 incher. It comes with 3 USB type-A ports among which 2 is of the 3.0 variance and one is of 2.0, a USB type-C port, a full-size HDMI port and an SD card reader.
Battery- It comes with a 48 Wh battery pack. While testing for various benchmarking tests it lasted nearly for 10 hours. But in the real-life situations, you’d hardly ever cross the 9 hours mark and you can expect around 6-8 hours of backup depending on the workload.
Price- Acer Swift 3 SF314-52-30QS is priced pretty competitively. Priced at £580 it, in fact, provides a great value per pound ratio making it very suitable for the budget consumers.
Downsides:
Display- It’s equipped with a 14-inch FHD panel which wasn’t good enough to impress me. It’s an IPS panel. But all the goodies end right there. The panel is right on pretty dim. With a luminance of 215 nits, it can only be used comfortably in indoors. The colours feel pretty dull as well due to low colour coverage.
Storage- As mentioned earlier, it comes equipped with a single 128 GB SSD. At first, it might not seem like an issue but you’re gonna fall short of space sooner or later. It’s a trade-off between the space and the performance, I think.
Verdict:
The display quality is not up to the mark. And that’s something that matters a hell lot to me. But if you’re gonna use it for everyday tasks like web surfing, mail checking and typing documents then it won’t be a big issue for you. Other than that it’s a great compact notebook.
