The Predator 15 G9-593-71EH belongs to the third iteration of the Acer’s Predator series with G9-591 and G9-592 being the previous ones. While Acer decided to keep the external changes to a minimum the internal hardware improved drastically since their first release. Let’s check out then whether it was worth its salt.

Benefits:
Performance- Acer Predator 15 G9-593 includes some top-notch hardware. It houses an Intel Core i7 processor which is capable enough to handle even the most demanding jobs. It’s accompanied by 16 gigs of RAM and a dual storage solution consisting of 1 TB of HDD and 256 GB of SSD. In essence, no matter how hard or demanding a task is it would be a child’s play for it.
GPU- The centre of attraction of this notebook is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU with 8 gigs of dedicated VRAM. GTX 1070 is more than capable of handling FHD gaming even in the highest possible standards; it’s, in fact, a bit of a waste to only use that much power for 1080p gaming as it can safely run most of the titles even in 4K display settings.
Display- It comes equipped with a 15.6-inch FHD panel supported by NVIDIA G-SYNC which turns out to be surprisingly good. The average brightness lies slightly on the dimmer end at 275 nits. On the other side, the colour reproduction capabilities are simply excellent for a gaming laptop with nearly 85% sRGB coverage. The contrast ratio of the IPS panel is excellent as well at 1000:1 making the colours even livelier.
Ports- It comes with a plethora of useful ports for a gamer- 5 USB ports among which 4 is of type-A variance and the rest is a type-C port which supports the Thunderbolt standards, an HDMI port, a display port, Ethernet port and an SD card reader.
Downsides:
Portability- The portability and mobility get a serious blow thanks to all the heavy machinery. Weighing at 8.16 lbs it’s utterly painful carrying around every now and then.
Useless FrostCore fan- It comes with an extra fan which can be inserted through the optical disc drive cavity named FrostCore. But upon practical testing, it was revealed that the effect of the FrostCore on the cooling of this notebook was minimal, or even superficial.
Verdict:
I have to say that it’s one of the best high-end gaming notebooks that Acer came up with. The list of goodies just goes on and on including a power-packed configuration, an overwhelming graphics unit for even the most gruesome tasks, a great display and so on. The only minor drawback (which I honestly don’t consider as a big issue) is the lack of mobility. All in all, it’s one great notebook. Recommended.
