Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-532-C1ZK (NX.GHJEK.002) Review

There is an innumerable number of Chromebooks out there- ranging from a hundred bucks to even a thousand bucks (aka Google Pixelbook). This time we’re gonna check out a netbook that is slightly different in that it includes a 15-inch panel. Let’s check out Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-532-C1ZK (NX.GHJEK.002) then.

  • CPU – Intel Celeron N3160 Quad-Core, 1.6 GHz
  • GPU – Intel HD Graphics 400
  • Memory – 4 GB DDR3
  • Screen – 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080)
  • Storage – 32 GB eMMC Flash
  • OS – Google Chrome OS

  • Performance – It comes with an Intel Celeron processor which is quite common for the Chromebooks. Also, there are 4 gigs of RAM along with 32 gigs of system storage. It usually faces no lagging problems under moderate workload, although it has some processing issues thanks to the less capable hardware. More on that later.
  • Battery – A staggering battery backup is the USP of this netbook. Equipping a 3-cell 3920 mAh battery pack it stayed up for even more than 13 hours while playing movies at medium brightness. Now, that’s something to boast about.
  • Display – A 15 inch Chromebook is a really rare sight. It features a 15.6-inch FHD display. While the majority of the Chromebooks are usually paired with either an 11 or 13-inch panel it touts a 15.6-inch display; moreover, it’s full HD instead of standard HD. The colour coverage and the brightness are nearly average making it good for trivial stuff.

  • Lack of power – Now, the Celeron processor and the meagre 4 gigs of low powered RAM can handle only that much of demanding tasks. You’re surely gonna witness some serious amount of lag if you try to do some gruelling multitasking.
  • Chrome OS – If you’re accustomed to either the Windows or Mac then this Chrome OS is gonna be a challenge for you with its browser-based control. And another major issue with the Chrome OS is that the lion’s share of the utility tools is online and cloud-based. So if you are by any chance in a place with poor net connection then performing even the most trivial task like typing in your word processor can make your life way harder.

It includes everything that you might need out of a paltry Chromebook- a good display, a considerable amount of power and, most importantly, almost one and a half day’s worth of battery backup. But yes, it’s priced slightly higher than your everyday Chromebooks at £280. Recommended.
