At 5 pounds and 0.98 inches thick the all new Asus FX504GD-ES51 aims to provide not only a great everyday option but one that can handle your gaming needs as well. It is marketed as thin and light, which is debatable when comparing to other laptop models but we will address that further in the review. Below we will take a closer look at some of the benefits and downsides we see in this new Asus model.
Processor: Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB of RAM
Storage: 1 TB FireCuda SSHD
Screen: 15.6 Inches
OS: Windows 10
Asus has done well in what many would consider the core components of any laptop. It comes with an Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB of memory which gives this laptop enough performance to easily run the average users workload and also handle most gaming requirements.
Talking about gaming you will find the GeForce GTX 1050 included. This graphics card is not a top end option but with its 2 GB of dedicated memory does offer much more than your average laptop that is currently on the market.
The FireCuda SSHD strikes a nice balance between performance and storage. It isn’t as good as an SSD but still faster than a regular SATA drive while still coming with a huge capacity of 1 TB.
As we mentioned above this laptop is marketed as both light and thin. Now 5 pounds and 0.98 inches isn’t terrible for a 15.6 inch laptop but at the same time it isn’t anything to brag about and we would consider this pretty average for a laptop of this size and price range.
No optical drive has been included in the design. For some this is no big deal but for those that still use physical media on a regular basis this might be a big strike against it.
We like what Asus is trying to do with this laptop. It isn’t overly dominating in any single category but does well in everything by offering plenty of performance and even a graphics card that can keep up with most gaming needs.
