CPU – Intel Core i5 Quad-Core (7th Gen), 2.5 GHz
GPU – 2 GB DDR5, NVIDIA GeForce MX150
Memory – 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4, extendable upto 32 GB
Screen – 15.6-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080)
Storage – 1 TB SATA HDD
OS – Windows 10 Home edition

Performance- The hardware lying under the hood is capable of handling moderately demanding tasks. It’s powered by an Intel Core i5 processor which is powerful enough to take on regular jobs as well as casual gaming. It’s accompanied by 8 gigs of RAM which, honestly speaking, would be good for normal workload but fall short for slightly demanding task like gaming or editing. And finally, there’s also the 1 TB hard drive which is slow but pretty common in low budget notebooks.

GPU- It houses an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 dedicated graphics unit to handle your rather demanding graphics heavy needs. It’s suitable for FHD gaming in low or medium preset. But it can take it up to high settings for some of the low demanding titles.

Ports- It provides a plethora of useful ports including 3 USB type-A ports (2×3.0 ports and 1×2.0 port), 1 USB type-C port, an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, a mini display port and an SD card reader.

Price- The price is indeed one of the most alluring features of this notebook. Priced under even the £600 mark (£580 to be precise) it would be in the top half of the list of many of the budget consumers.

Battery- Now, a 6-cell 41 Wh battery would be begging for trouble if included in a multimedia laptop. And that’s what happened here. While performing some moderately demanding tasks it barely ever passes the 2 and half hour mark. Now, that’s going to be troublesome if you are on the road and forgot your charging brick.

Cooling- While the machine stays overall under control temperature wise the CPU temperature does get scorching hot pretty fast. That is mostly due to fact that it has got only a single fan to handle both the CPU and GPU which doesn’t seem like a great idea.

So, let’s sum up the situation- it has got some considerable amount of power, the GPU is capable enough to handle casual gaming as well as some light photo or video editing and it’s cheap. But the battery backup is really frustrating even under normal workload. So if you need a notebook which you can carry everywhere with you and would be able to handle low to moderately demanding stuff then MSI Prestige PL62 7RC-068 (9S7-16JD21-068) would be a great laptop for you.
