Specs:

  • CPU – Intel Core i5 Quad-Core (8th Gen), 2.8 GHz
  • GPU – Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • Memory – 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4, extendable upto 32 GB
  • Screen – 13.3-inch Full HD IPS (1,920 x 1,080) with 10 point touch screen
  • Storage – 1 TB SATA HDD
  • OS – Windows 10 Home edition

Benefits:

  • Price – It’s good value for your money if you ask me. You get a solid i5 processor, 8 gigs of RAM and 1 TB of external storage, which is quite good at this price.
  • Performance – An 8 GB of RAM which is upgradeable up to 32 GB, 13.3 inches Full HD display and 1 TB of external storage is really something to talk about. But the real workhorse in this model is the all-new lightning fast 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor. It can handle almost any task that you might need to get done every day. From heavy internet surfing to live streaming of your favourite episode from the Daredevil, it can do anything with just the press of a button without lagging for a second.
  • Feel – The keyboard is pretty good and smooth. The fact that I especially liked about the laptop is that the keys are backlit. We don’t usually see this feature in low range laptops like this. The trackpad is pretty smooth and accurate. The touchscreen, though, is somewhat inaccurate if you ask me. They can be inefficient in touch recognition and palm touch reduction.

Downsides

  • Battery backup – Battery maybe is one of the biggest weak points of this laptop. In standard situation under normal usage (surfing the net or streaming videos online with Wi-Fi activated), it lasts as much as 6 hours. While it is not too terrible, it sure does lag behind the class average of 8 hours. Some of its competitors such as Lenovo Yoga 710 and Asus ZenBook Flip UX360CA can last as long as a stunning 9 hours.
  • Slow HDD – While an SSD could have been so much better, it provides a clunky hard disk drive. As a result, the transfer speed and the whole performance can take a significant hit. While testing, the transfer speed reached only as high as 50 Mbps which is quite low as a moderate transfer speed.
  • Handling – This model surely is a bit bulky and heavy. With dimensions 12.76 x 8.85 x 0.77 inch, it is pretty bulkier than its competitors (12.68 x 8.78 x 0.68 inch for Yoga and 12.71 x 8.66 x 0.54 inch for ZenBook). It also weighs 3.44 lbs (1.56 kg) which is heavier than the rest.

Verdict:

It obviously is a good fit for you if you want a lower mid-range laptop or a 2 in 1 specifically. It gives consistent and reliable performance over time. It surely provides great value for your money.
